I am thinking of buying an AG russell knife that the following link will show you. I am also considering their field sharpener. http://www.agrussell.com/agrussell/rus-pa-br.html
The sharpener is item AG3750 and the following link describes it: http://www.agrussell.com/maintenance/index.html
They say that with the field sharpener one just holds the knife so that the edge is down and thenslide edge across the ceramic or diamond rod. I asked what if the knife has a different angle to start with and the lady said that it does not matter. This confused me. I thought that if one were working with say an Arkansas stone one would want to maintain the same angle that the blade originally had. I would use this knife for skinning and dismembering big game animals in the field. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks, Rufous.
