This is probably on of my favorite pocket clip knives. It is, more or less, a folding modified version of the AG Russell Sting. This is a titanium scaled framelock, weighs 2.9 ounces, has a 3" blade. The pocket clip is located on the pivot end and set the knife fairly deep in the pocket. The top edge of the blade is swedged on both sides creating an unsharpened top false edge. The blade steel is 154CM which sharpens well and has good stain resistance. It has twin flippers one of which can be used to open the knife, it's twin on the bottom serves to help form the guard. It also has twin thumb studs tho I never use them, them seem to more of a blade stop than thumb openers. There is a TORX screw for the pivot that can be adjusted to your preference on blade tightness. I use the flipper and wrist snap to open the knife. One other plus for me is this is a USA made knife. I have been carrying this knife almost daily for over a year and it has performed very well in the daily cutting chores.

Thanks to the 3 inch blade these are legal just about everywhere, the light weight makes it easy to carry in any type of pants including dress pants. It differs from the Folding Sting in blade design only. The Sting has a dagger type blade with an unsharpened upper edge for obvious reasons.

I do wish these had the ability to be carried tip up as this would allow the flipper to catch on open on drawing...this might be a patent thing however. I have considered drilling and tapping mine to make this possible. You can draw with thumb and forefinger, let it rotate into your hand then catch the flipper on pocket or pants seam for fast opening...works very well with a little practice.

Much like the Sting this isn't a knife for the church social, it is a working SD knife that still meets the legal requirements of most States. It's 3 inch blade is enough for serious work but at the same time the knife is small enough to have it palmed if a problem appears but isn't immediately a threat.

These run $99 or if you don't mind a cosmetic blemish...I have never found it on mine...you can buy a second for $70, currently they show some in stock.

Nice review. Good pics, too.

Thanks!

You da man! Thanks bro for the review. I tried researching this knife a couple months ago and there is literally NO information or reviews on it. This will be very helpful for anyone curious about this fine, and very well priced knife.

Good review.

A.G. Russell folders look pretty good on paper, except I cannot find them here. They fall into my category of "promising knives awaiting further research and funding" ;)

This is a Youtube review of the A.G. Russell Spear Point folder by darkchild57.

These match the design of the Darrel Ralph Madd Maxx/CUDA Maxx knives very closely. Maxxes have been tapped for successful tip-up carry as an after-market modification.

Real nice review, thanks!

fantastic pics how do you get the subtle metal hue contrasts.? it's super hard for myself to show the alloys & steel contrasts.thanks for the lesson . dennis
