Hi,

Has anybody any experience with the kitchen knives from AG Russell? They look like nice gifts for somebody who likes to cook. Sort of a bribe so I can buy more knives but you didn't hear that from me...

The six inch cook's knife has become by 'reach for it first' knife.

Works fine and is comfortable in the hand.

Don't have any of the others.

Holds its edge longer then my Heneckel's parer.

Bought the entire set for my sister at Christmas. Seemed like real good knives. I'd pass on the plastic block though. Kinda crummy. I'm sure it works great but it's so ugly.

I passed on the plastic 'block' too but I got the cutting board. It is very handy.

Wish I'd gotten two.

I bought a complete set ,block and all, for my son as wedding gift in Sept this year.

My wife and I had a real good look at them as we wanted my son to have excellent life-
time quality kitchen cutlery. We were not disappointed. My wife liked them so much
we are considering another set for her.

So I guess my take would be ..........

If you need and appreciate good quality cutlery the A.G. Russell set is an excellent
buy. Buy the block too. It can be ran in the dishwaher to keep you knives in a clean
environment with the blades touching nothing but air. The best way to store blades.

I've looked at them, but haven't bought yet. I get most of my kitchen cutlery used. They are similar in design to the Japanese MAC line and sound like they use AUS-8W or similar alloy containing tungsten. They should take an exceptionally sharp edge. The designs are particularly efficient. The handles are moderate in size and should be particularly a good match for a woman's hands. The only concern is their appearance. Some people have a very fixed notion of how the handles should look. They will not like a knife that is the wrong color. You should try and check on this.
