Hi all. I have been wanting one of the AG Russell Reverse Congress knives for a while, and I recently got one from my wife for a birthday present. She had asked me what I liked and I told her the coffin briarwood model.
Briarwood is what pipes are made out of, and I've always liked the high gloss look of pipes. When I received the knife though, the wood was nothing like what I was expecting. Dull, no figure in it, not at all like the photos. Also, he wood didn't match up with the bolsters.
AG Russell has a solid guarantee though, so I sent it back and switched it for the burnt whitetail antler. This one is a winner! The handles are great and fit and finish are top notch. A spey and a sheepsfoot blade. Very, very nice. If you are waiting for one of these, I understand that inventory on the whitetail is getting low.
This is a really nice knife.
