Nice aren't they? He's got quite a few more designs in the pipeline. Some traditional styled and some not. I'm looking forward to some of the other stuff that he'll be making.
Me, too. I have a couple of his folders and with 50 years of knife carrying under my belt as my measuring stick, I couldn't believe the fit and finish. The "curved regular jack" knife with a wharcliff blade I purchased from him about 10 months ago is jaw dropping in its fit. The bolsters, liners and back spring fit so well together that it looks to be almost one piece of metal, not five. It has a strange feel too it, almost like a watch when you close it. That stop pin for the blade is an excellent touch.
I liked it enough to buy the zulu style blade next, and it is of the same fit and finish category.
The only
small quibble would be in a certain light, you can see tiny ridges on the blade that run perpendicular to the blade. Having polished out a lot of stainless over the years for other projects, I know exactly what this is and what causes it.
If you load up your polishing wheel with compound and lay on the metal hard with your polisher, some stainless steels will develop these tiny ridges. I first found this out about 25 - 30 years ago when restoring a knife for a friend of mine that had a 440C blade on it. At the time there were still a lot of custom makers that came to our local gun shows, and I took it to them for inspection. They knew right away what it was and what I had done.
It doesn't affect the performance at all. And as I said, it is the only
small (tiny?) thing wrong with either knife. I would guess that this steel (12c27 - excellent for this use!) acts differently than the predominate steel used in the factory these knives are made in, and a slight tune up in procedure would take care of this. But, after all my picky buddies have looked these knives over, not one of them even saw the ridges.
Personally, I can't wait for more of his designs to hit the shelves. The knives I have purchased from him so far are such a value it is incredible I won't be able to stay away.
