a few nights ago i was trying to creat the ultimate knife lock, after experimenting with complex interlocking liner locks, i hit on a new idea (the geometry for the liner locks was getting rather complex)

The new lock i "invented" was ambidexerous, simple, and it sqeeze tightened. I had given birth to the "Integral lockback" that was going to be my claim to fame in the cutlery industry.

Then as i was suffing along i found this on agrussells website

now i dont know how Mr Russell managed to get a hold of my plans, or how he managed to get them into production 14 years ago even though i only invented this lock two days ago, but i am very upset!!

seriously, this looks like a great lock and i think that whoever at agrussell that came up with this is rather clever.

But i want to know how come there are not more? Is there a pattent on this that prevents anyone else from using it?

I would love to see a more refined version, i have many ideas myself, but i would like to see more things like this in the cutlery industry.

(i apologise to AG Russell for the title, just wanted people to see this, great looking lock)

While I won't swear to it I believe that the basics of this front
lockback go back much futher that 14 yrs.

Have a look at the French made Lagoule knives or the Italy made
Stilletto of switchblade fame. All lock at the front on a pin at the
rear of the blade. A.G. just modernized it successfully into his
great one hander. I've got one and it is my Sunday knife.

so it looks like pat crawford and some itailan and french guys stole my idea, still its my idea, i may have only thought of it a few days ago, but it is very dear to me, oh well i still have my other lockback modification.

no one else knows anything about these?
