Wondering if anyone may know about the differences in these two AG Russell WoodsWalker knives. The bottom one pictured is the one currently on AG's website. What is the story on the other one pictured. AG's name on the blade is different, blade grind looks different, I don't know about the blade steels or handle materials. What's the story?

AG himself will likely answer that for you shortly as he is active on the forum. I have never seen the top version but have 3 of the bottom version of varying age and all are Aus 8 made in Japan. AG's website lists the handle material as Wood Rucarta, which I'm not exactly sure what that means. My understanding is that Rucarta is some type of phenolic. To me the Woodswalker handle looks like an almost highly stabilized wood which I always assumed was black ebony.

That is the first knife I made in Japan, it has been made by at least three makers as the knife industry in Japan has faded away, the top one looks like the first maker and the bottom looks currant.

The handle would be called by others, Pakka Wood or wood micarta, it is layers of birch, dyed black and laminated with phynolic resin.

We moveed to our new bulding in Rogers in March of 2002.

my best to all. . . . . . A. G.
