AG110 in stag...

Okay, the recent increase in Custom Shoppe prices has made me look at the stag AG110 at Cabela's a bit more closely. Yep, $155 is rather stiff, considering the $68 wood handled version's price. Both are black Al-Ti-N coated S30V with brass bolsters. The Ni-Ag ones would look better, but that's me. Anyone have one? How is the stag quality? Do they look that good? Do they hold up (No handle rivets!)?

Of course, this sudden interest has nothing to do with the $20 off a $150 minimum purchase coupon that arrived in yesterday's mail... I need a second S30V 110 - my original AG110, like everything that comes through the door, was quickly - albeit carefully - used!

Thanks!

Stainz

I have two. One is on display and the second I've been carrying for 1 1/2 years. The stag on the one I think is awsome. The stag on the other one is awsome on one side and okay on the other. I was concerned at first because of the no rivets. But I carry mine everyday except on Sundays. It hasnt seen tons of hard use but it did field dress a doe last season and cut through her like butter. I still havent had to sharpen it. I was going to post a picture of them but I will have to later. I forgot my passsword and now I'm locked out of it.

What do you carry on Sunday??? ;)

Hey Stainz...
1> Anyone have one?
Yep

2> How is the stag quality?
Very nice

3> Do they look that good?
Yep

4> Do they hold up (No handle rivets!)?
Don't know how it would hold up...closet queen with no rivets.

I don't have a pic of it close up...but here are a couple of group pics.
Pretty cool if ya can get that for $130 :)

If you read the reviews on the Cabela's website there are a couple that claim slabs loosened up.

How reliable the reviews may be.......who knows???

These are listed, BTW as limited to a run of 500 and my Cabela's has two.

I'm undecided.

I carry my Case stockman on Sundays. Not sure why I dont wear my 110 with a suit. Its not like anyone would see it.

Not having access to a nearby Cabellas, I had to order mine. Stag on the first was badly mismatched, so I returned it to Cabellas for a replacement; stag on the second was fine. I agree with Stainz that it would have looked a lot better with nickel silver bolsters. Like Goose, mine is a "safe queen" so I also don't know about the handle and lack of rivets; however, I have another stag handled 110 user without rivets that has held up fine for over 10 years now.

My guess would be that the stag will stay on just fine.

I suspect that some people are freaked out by the lack of rivets.

Are the rivets even functional or just decorative?

I'm leaning toward getting one even with the brass bolsters.

Stanz, as requested I am posting pics of a Cabelas Ag and also pics of a wood AG that i had rehandeled in rams horn.

I believe you can get a rams horn from the custom shop for slightly less than a zillion dollars!

DOUBLE CLICK ON THE PIC FOR A "SUPERSIZE IMAGE"

Note: Not a bad pic of AG, the stag was "shinny" on one side.
