As some of you may have seen in another post, my small Classic (bought NIB 2 months ago) had been damaged about a 1/4" along the edge. I first noticed it about 2 weeks after I bought the knife, but didn't pay it much attention, thinking it was probably just the light playing tricks on me.
Well, I noticed it again recently, and began to wonder if maybe there was something wrong with the knife. Of course, I first suspected that it was just my inexperience with knives; however, I could not recall an instance where I had used the knife hard. Further, I remembered that I had used the large plain I owned previously much harder, without any ill effects.
So, I e-mailed CRK to ask their opinion, and Bridget asked me to send it in. I did not want to do it right away, since I wanted the knife with me over Thanksgiving (hey 90% of the fun of owning the best is using it; the other 10% is showing it off
). Bridget assured me they could get it done and overnighted, if necessary, so that I could have it back by Tuesday. That was yesterday.
They got the knife today. Bridget told me that Chris had tested the hardness, and found it to be about 2 points to high (63-64). She said that they would replace the knife for me, and that Chris had selected one. Should be coming here on Monday.
Wow! Kudos to CRK for excellent customer service!!!!
This makes the knife even more special to me now... I bought the knife with funds from a signing bonus (negotiated a little extra in for the purchase), and so I associate the knife with the great job I got after being laid off. Now, not only do I have that association, but I also have the good karma since this was directly selected by Mr. Reeve. They'll have to pry this one from my cold, dead fingers

I mentioned that I would be interested in purchasing a bottle of the flourinated teflon grease, since it would be free shipping. Bridget graciously offered to throw one in, free of charge. Kudos again!!!
