Hey guys,

So I'm lookin for another EDC folder. I've got one of the ZT 301's right now, but it's a little wide for me and who ever says no to getting another knife?

I'm looking at either the large or small Seb (possibly with damascus) and one of the gunner SNG's (possibly with the nightmare grind).

I will likely end up with both and have been looking on-line at all the comparisons, but I'd love toe hear your guys' thoughts on the merits of each!

Thanks

I have owned all these knives. The DGG Sng is a very slim and light knife, but also the handles being so thin makes them a bit flimsy compared to the LEGO Sng. I'll catch some heat for this, but the Large Sebenza feels more stout in my hands than the DGG Sng. It also carries lower profile than the DGG Sng.

So for my EDC Lego (Std) Sng > Large Sebenza > DGG Sng.

The small Sebenza never appealed to me. It just feels too small in my hand comapred to these other full size knives. Going from a ZT 0301 to a Small Seb is quite a stretch!

I can see this turning into another "Which knife is better ..." thread. Hopefully not.

I have both, a small Seb and a regular SnG. I use them both regularly and I've found they each work very well indeed for most things but I tend to use them for different purposes. The Seb slices far better than the SnG and I tend to carry that when I'm going out somewhere or around the house and stuff like that. It fits nicely in my front jeans pocket.

The SnG is a little more bulky and I tend to have that with me when I'm working around the property. It gets used fairly hard at times and I can get a good secure grip on the handle, especially if my hands are covered in anything slippery like water, oil, blood etc.

You can't really go wrong with either one, if you want something slimmer and smaller for the pocket that slices like a scalpel, go for the Seb. If you want something a bit bulkier that will handle hard work, go for the SnG. Having said that, they will both handle hard work and the choice will come down to handle and blade shape that suits your purposes and personal preference.

Better still get both, I did and I'm glad I did.

This is a pic of my two when they were a bit younger. As you can see, they are not that much different in size. I think however that the Seb blade configuration is slightly more universally usefull for my purposes. Your purposes may differ of course.

Nice post gaj, and thanks for the pic.
I don't have a Seb so I can't really comment for a comparison. I do love my Sng though, and think the Sebs look to be more of a gentleman's knife, just my opinion. But I'd say let your intended purposes dictate which one you get.
Prettier slicer=seb tougher work knife = Sng
or get both!

There are a lot of conceptual things I like about the SnG, but in physical reality, I prefer the Seb. If you're really torn, I think owning them both would likely enhance your appreciation of them both.

It would be interesting if we could get Strider and CRK to swap, so that each produced the other's design for a while. I think I might ultimately prefer a CRK SnG. Maybe a Krien'ed CRK SnG.

A Kreined SnG, now that's an idea! :) ... You get (imho) an ambidextrous knife with the better ergo's of the SnG grip, great in-hand balance and pretty light weight, and the beautiful slicing ability of the Sebenza. I like it...

I said a Krien'ed *CRK* SnG. :-)
lol, best I could do. :) besides, until we have a crk sng (which i don't think will be happening so soon) we won't be able to have it kreined. and if you think about it, the kreined sng is about as close to a crk sng as you can get, and maybe even better.
