I'm getting married in a few weeks. the hardest thing i have had to do is pick out a wedding ring for my self. I have never worn jewelry in my life so its been hard.

After a lot of looking i decided on getting a titanium made ring. I had this one custom made, it is an exact duplicate of my grandfathers gold wedding band.

I'm happy with how it turned out, i just wish i could age it some how to make it look older and darken its finsh a bit more . Is it even possible?

You can try soaking it in oxy clean.

Nothing at all. Titanium is extremely resistant to oxidizing environments. Titanium is excellent in it's corrosion resistance. In fact I don't think titanium ages, or will ever look aged. Short of immersing it in dry chlorine gas, or dry nitric acid there will be little to no effect. You could try submersing the ring in boiling 98.5% sulfuric acid. But that's mighty hazardous without proper knowledge...

When I got married about five years ago I scraped my Ti ring on every brick and ruff surface I could find. Drove my wife mad but after all this time it has a nice finish to it I think.

You can also get Titanium anodized into many colors. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1345336812.214394.jpg

If you just wear it...it will look aged soon enough. Mine was shiny/polished when I bought it and now it looks years beyond my marriage. Pics available upon request :D

You could send it out to be anodized. A competent anodizor could dial up almost any color by varying the voltage. The color you're looking for would probably be charcoal. I haven't seen that shade in Titanium. Most people are looking for a little pizazz (bright apple green). Check with Alan Folts. He makes colored Ti chopsticks and does his own processing.

Are you talking about the ring or your wife?

Sorry, I had to, lol. :D

My TI ring dulled and aged with use.

Congrats brother! You can try hanging it from a coat hanger and hitting it with a propane torch.

Heat coloring might come off pretty easily but it looks great and it easy to do with a propane torch,if you look it up you might be able to get to a color you like .

To me, that's akin to dying your hair grey, it just doesn't look natural. It will happen on its own, just like grey hair. :)

I agree...let it go. Nothing looks better than those old Sebenzas...ones that have been carried for 10 years. Considering a ring will be right there on your hand where it'll hit everything, it will get there is a year. Natural is way better than forced.

My Titanium wedding band has a matt grey finish to the outside and an anodised finish inside. The outside is showing scratches or marks at least from wear which surprised me a bit. Cost all of $50 from Etsy so I don't complain LOL
