Agonizing

I received my first Microtech yesterday

. Guess which model? LCC M/A stonewash plain edge.

Very nice knife. I think that's the problem though. I bought it because it looked like it would be a good EDC. My instincts were correct because I like the way it feels in my hand. I like the handle shape and heft of of the knife. It's very solid and reassuring. But it's too pretty! I don't know if I can actually bring myself to use it, other than pulling it out of the pouch to look at it. What do I do?

Put it in the dryer with some gravel for a few minutes?

I have one myself and I know exactly what you mean. The good news is that the LCC is every bit as tough as its weight suggests. Carry it in your pocket and don't worry about it. Mine still looks NIB after months of fairly regular use.

Now, that's what I call a do-it-yourself stonewash job

kamagong,
use the knife! Aren't you worth it? If you paid $100 after carrying for 100 days it has cost you $1 a day! Is your personal pleasure worth $1 a day?
Just my way of looking at it.

I have a rule about buying knives and not using them, I don't do it. If there is a knife I wan't but have no real use for it I usually don't buy it.

But, as fate would have it, I bought an LCC and just stared at it for about a week, I rubbed it, talked to it, but never carried it. That was a couple of months ago. It's been in my pocket 3-4 days per week since then and it still looks great!

This knife is really a user, after all this time I've got one scratch on the clip because I turned a corner too fast and rubbed it on the wall.

I would say use the knife and you will like it even more!

Lifter - that's the best way of justifying a new knife purchase I have heard in a long while. Can I use it for my next purchase??

If you don't want to use your new Microtech LCC, send it to me, and I'll beat the hell out of it for you.

Took all your advice and am carrying this baby. Can't quite bring myself to clip carry her though. She's in my pocket protected by her sheath for now...

The only solution is to buy another one, so you can have one for use and one for show. If you want something a little different, pick up the LCC?MA Tactical edition. All Black, OD Green Micarta scales, and the TiBoride coating is tough as nails. It has become my EDC knife.

I got mive from www.tripleaughtdesign.com and I think he still has a few left, but you probably want to check.
