Gang--- Years ago I had a A.G. Russell Morseth Boot Knife with Red Rucarta. What a knife. This is one of the finest designed knives ever, imo. Does anyone have one and how about a pic? Thanks.

Don't want to veer too far off of your topic....
What does it have/not have that makes it different from Micarta? Or did it just get a new name?

Micarta is a registered trademark of DuPont (or maybe it's Westinghouse). AG prolly didn't want to mess with the big lawyers. My guess...

i beleive harry c. is correct about westinghouse trademark on micarta. rucarta is simply micarta. some of these in limited collectors editions are sought.

BTW, I had the AGR Morseth Pilots Survival knife too in Red Rucarta. That was another beauty.
Maybe A.G. will see this thread.

I designed the blade and Bob Dozier designed the handle.

Thanks for the reply A.G.
Did you ever think about bringing that one back? (the boot knife)

Hi!,

I am pretty much focused on new designs, if you want a repeat you will have to send a request to goldie@agrussell.com she seldom replies but will consider.
I am the only one with time to answer. She spends all her time trying to keep us on the black side of the bottom line. telling her what you want to see again could help her do that.

We could do it shop made. just a handful in 154 or in Taiwan in D2 or A10 fir a third.

I have one with a dark red micarta style handle. Real nice.
I am sure this is a collectors piece since I have been unable to find a pic of this exact knife anywhere. Not sure what the value is but I imagine it is kind of pricey.

I would really like to know the history of this model knife by Morseth.

I also have a slightly larger hunting style knife with the same red micarta style handle by Morseth.

I just joined the site and don't have the ability to post a pic.

If you want me to send you a picture reply with your email and I will send you a pic.

Thanks.

Is this the boot knife you are discussing here? Bought this one today at a garage sale for $3.00

I have several AGR Morseths and I think they are great knives. Their "chute knife" was the one that I lusted after for a long time.

This is black micarta handle; the blade has been polished, a factory finish you could see the difference between the laminated steel layers.

Always wondered by A.G went into asymmetrical grinds on the back of his knives.

Mine had a protective layer of rust on the blade. Took a lot of elbow grease to get it cleaned up and then put a coat of paste wax on the blade. Now the hunt begins for a sheath. Previous owner must have owned it as a kid. He mentioned using it to play chicken and getting stuck in the foot once. To tell the truth, I liked the looks of this knife, did not know it is considered a collectible. Thank you for posting, have an idea now of what the knife and sheath looks like.
