So I was trying to figure out a good practical use for the arrowhead and I was wondering if it could be used as the lethal end of an animal trap.

I haven't had the chance yet to build any traps myself, but it seems like it would be a good idea.

Can anyone with a little more experience with traps let me know if it would work, and if so, how would you incorporate the arrowhead into your traps?

I still think they make better earrings than trap parts

I have two and have not really thought that hard about a use for them but have not considered trap parts. A well set snare, either just a loop for rabbits and such, or some sort of triggered twitch up works as well as anything. A small pointy bit does not lend itself to making that kinda thing any more useful. As a small striker it works well and I have used one on a couple of rabbits just 'cos and the edge cuts to start the process but then you can skin a rabbit with a minimal amount of cutting anyway. I have even just broken a back leg and used the sharp bone to start the skinning cut. One with a bit of duct tape to guard the edge lives in my wallet and would be of more use than a ceramic razor, bulkier but tougher. They are just kinda cool I guess!

for animals that keep to known paths, a triggered whipping arm with a lance on the end works. I wonder how well the AH's would work for that, my biggest fear would be loosing them to the animal and not being able to follow the blood trail.

Kinda my point. A arrow kills by blood loss from a cut path rather than hydraulic shock like a projectile from a firearm. The AH1 could work like a wee barb on the end of a trap lance but would it be any more effective than a fire hardened point? For the small animals I would target, and rabbits also use fixed paths, I still would go with a snare of some description. Just had a thought tho', if the AH1 was attached to the trap with a cord then it could come off the end on striking the target animal and remain in as a barb, may have a play with that idea.
