Here's one I just received from California knifemaker Ray Laconico which is really special, imho.

Thought I'd post a few pix of it before I scratch it up, as this one's goin' in the pocket for sure. :)

This is Ray's Jasmine design in slim titanium framelock with heat colored hardware. It is only 5/16ths inch thick and has flawless fit, finish, and operation. It is 3 & 15/16ths inches closed, and 7 & 1/8th inches open. The blade is 3 & 1/8th inches of scary sharp flat ground D2. It weighs only about 2.5 ounces and floats in the pocket. I like everything about it. Thanks again Ray!

Let me know what you think about it.

Hope you enjoy the view:

Beautiful and congrats! Ray's folders have really been catching my eye lately. Beautiful, clean lines on all his knives for sure.

Very NICE, CLEAN looking folder, and D2 is awesome steel!

Is that a "Starlingear" bead on the lanyard?

I really like the overall design, but have a few thoughts, (since you asked);

-I don't like the look of the slotted fastener at the pivot, although I understand the rationale behind it
-the pocket clip could stand to be a touch shorter
-I'm going to assume there is no backspacer; on a knife this thin, a backspacer might be more comfortable, even if another fastener is required
-while D2 is fairly corrosion resistant, I'd go for something like 154CM, (Stellite would be ultra cool)
-thumbstud could be color matched to the other fasteners, and might look better as a result
-generally, I don't like to see any part of the blade tang protrude past the handle when the knife is closed
-also not too keen on seeing the stop pin slot in the blade when the knife is opened

ps. if I really disliked this knife I wouldn't have made any suggestions, overall, I think that this is a really nice design and well executed:thumbup:

Classy knife Ford. You have always had an eye for quality & this one is no exception. Congrats!

Totally agree. Ray's folders and fixed blades are always a treat to see. D2 is a great steel. (Wish he would use some CPM D2 at some point).

Ford, you know how to pick them.

The beauty of Ray's knives always leave me in a state of awe. They just seem so...perfect.

Thank you one and all for your thoughtful and kind comments and feedback.

Just thought I'd post a quick iPhone shot of my Jasmine since I heat colored the titanium clip to closer match the other heat colored hardware. I had initially asked Ray to heat color the clip, but he had already bead blasted the clip, so I said "no problem", I'll take it as is. After I got it, however, and saw images of one just like it that he had heat treated the clip on, I decided that I would prefer my clip heat treated as well.

So I got my propane torch out and got with the program. Btw, this is my 1st attempt at heat coloring anything. I guess it was beginners luck because I really like the way it turned out with shades of bronze to blue (in the right light).

Always welcome comments and feedback here.
