Looking at a new knife. I've sold/am selling a bunch of my knives and want to pick up a larger sized knife, preferably a flipper. I've read and read and read and just can't make a decision. Here's what folders I currently own (that's in usable condition):

PM2
Manix 2
Dragonfly 2
Gayle Bradley
ZT 0801 and 0770CF
Brous Bionic
TSF Beast
LionSteel Opera

What I'm looking at: 3.5" or greater blade, flipper or maybe something wavy, under $215
ZT0560/1
Southard--Had one, didn't like it, sold it 3 days later, thinking I didn't give it enough time, maybe try again?
SG Bad Monkey--love the looks, USA made blade has them for $212, which I should be able to stretch.
Emerson of some sort (no chisel grind)
Want some opinions and options I may not be looking at in this price range. I'm willing to buy used off the exchange as well.

Thanks,

K.O.D.

I would take a serious look at the Reate Horizon B. I have the more premium version A, but it's an amazing flipper in the size you're looking for.

GP and White Mountain both carry them.

ZT 562 if you can find one. It's a great flipper and fits the hand well.

Benchmade 300 is a winner, but I like my Spyderco Southard better. What didn't you like about it?

The 300 is definitely fatter, but has a shorter blade than the Southard.

The Buck Marksman is cheaper than your limit, and is a really nice medium size flipper.

I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the 0561. The zon has it for $195.

I ordered the 0561 at $195 figuring that if I don't like it, it should be an easy sell.

Auston speaks the truth. We're both big advocates for the Reate, they're really tremendous knives. I couldn't be happier with my Horizon A.

For American made stuff, ZT is pretty much where it's at with flippers right now. 0562/0801 are prime flipping options. I do have a Bad Monkey as well and it's a super high quality knife. Steel arguments aside, the BM is a very well put together piece and my example is without flaw.

It's a good knife, I've got three 561's, too bad I didn't see this thread earlier.

The 801 is an awesome knife one of my favorites for sure. I also share the same opinion as you on the southard. I didn't like it either. As also mentioned the 562 is pretty sweet. You couldn't go wrong with either

the CRKT Foresight is a real nice flipper, has ikbs.

0560 will be here this morning. Very excited.

560/1 is butter, big but carries much smaller that it is, amazing fit/finish.

If you consider the wave on Emersons, the CQC-15 is a fantastic knife too (mini version is very nice also and still big). Just know it's not a "flicking" knife (like a Axis lock), it's more like a Sebenza that you butter open, unless you use the wave. Super smooth but does have a little break in. I'm a big fan. Super solid. While Nutnfancy can be annoying, he did a great YouTube interview with Ernest Emerson that is worth a watch if think of going Emerson, understanding his philosophy behind knife making and use may be important in your decision. It's more about function than fit/finish. That being said the 2014 models have really stepped up their game.
