i have a cold steel mini AK-47. i had it for 2 months and the lock started getting screwy. when i close it slowly, the lock bar wont even recess into the handle. and when pipped upside down, the blade comes out like over an inch. the blade needs to be slammed into the handle for the lock to close. and when it does, it sounds almost like steel cracking (but its not). i pampered the hell out of the knife, so no hard use. is this an unseated leaf spring? im scared. lol. this knife was waaay too much money for FROST-like problems. it will be getting sent out for repair work THIS WEEK anyways, but i want to know whats going on:confused::eek:

Huh. First time I've heard of that problem. I'd call it a fluke. :o

I have no idea what would cause something like that. I've had a few C.S. knives over the last 15 years and never had or even heard of anything like this. I hope it all works out for you. Keep us posted. I'm not sure about the warranty & service after the sale from Cold Steel.

Pics would be great if you get a chance.

Be honest.......have you been messing around with a screwdriver taking it apart?
Barring that I am sure they will take care of it.
Never had a problem with any of their folders.

Sorry to hear you got a lemon. Please let us know how Cold Steel responds. They don't have a stellar reputation where warranty is concerned, so I'm hoping to hear them come through for you.

They didn't used to, but all the recent customer service reports I've heard have indicated that they've picked up the ball they dropped. ;)

i do have my receipt. haha itll work. go to google and type in cold steel unseated leaf spring. theres a post of it thats even on here

dumb question but is it full of junk like pocket lint? would make it do that. it's worth a check, and costs you nothing.

By design, the leaf sping cant be unseated, if the supporting elements are functioning correctly. Sounds like the spring is broken.

i did check. i wiped down every part of that knife and put oil on literally EVERY PEICE of it. it was dripping. and the spring was doing the same exact thing.
and by design, it can get unseated. type it into google and about 5 times it is mentioned and an example. there was even a post on her about it
