Here's a Bilton decked out in buckskin, with buffalo horn beads, and an accessory chakma made from a file and some weathered antler. Thought y'all might get a kick out of it. The edge had started cutting through the scabbard, so I pulled off the chape, and made a patch out of 8 ounce leather. Took a sharp knife and "feathered" the edges of the patch so it glued down nice and smooth instead of making a lumpy ridge. Covered the rig in buckskin and voila', safe, secure, and, IMHO, sort of snazzy.;)

Sarge

Far East meets Old West

With it's blade of just under 5 1/2 inches it's "street legal" in Texas (5 1/2" blade max if worn exposed, 3" if concealed). Great conversation starter, and besides, ain't Biltons (Biltongs) got an association with the cutting of dried meat down in South Africa? Here in Texas we call that there stuff "jerky".:D ;) :D

More fine work Sarge............as usual!
I've been trying my hand making a "file" knife and I think I strayed from the path you laid out for us (been quite an adventure so far}.
love seeing your handiwork.

One of my favorite things is when my daughter's friends ask her, "hey, that's way cool, where on earth did you get something like that?", and hearing the pride in her voice when she answers, "my father made it for me". I don't care whether or not my "tinkering" makes me rich, in the ways that matter I already am.

Glad y'all got a kick out of my Buckskin Bilton, but dang if all this "drinking to that" ain't making me thirsty.

"Buckskin Bilton,"...sort of sounds like an old west gunslinger, or khuk slinger, doesn't it?

VERY nice work there! It gave me a few ideas for my user rig! :D These days it anything but "tac black" and that is right at where I want to be!

Thanks for the inspiration, and you SURE youre not a pro??;) I want to see that one in person, when's the next get together????? Theres another fellow at Ft Hood I have been wanting to hook up with as well, might make it a little convention of sorts!:D

Sarge,

That's way cool. Nothing like a personal handmade gift - worth a whole a lot more than anything anybody can buy.

Okay, the title of the thread made me nervous--wasn't sure WHAT Sarge had photographed, and boy was I relieved to see the decked out bilton instead of er.... :p :o :D

Seriously though, that's a fine looking rig--one I'd be damn proud to wear if I'd made it (and even if I didn't:D )

Dwayne,

Get on Sarge's good side - he orchestrates regular meetings down in TX. The guys are always saying something about a Dog and a Duck - but I think that's a complicated coded message...I've yet to crack it...

I understand he makes one heckuva buckskin bikini as well, although the fitting sessions are rumored to take days.
