Air eraser VS Ti....kinda rad.

So, mainly as a hobby, I got myself a vinyl cutter and a heat press so I could make decals and T-shirts. Then I learned I could also use it to make templates for etching glass. I was using Armour-etch, which is an acid (I believe) based way of altering the glass. I wasn't thrilled with the results so I picked up an air eraser (somewhere between an airbrush and a sand blaster I guess...) and I was much happier with the results. Then I tried it on a stainless steel Yeti (OK, actually an Rtic) and I was super stoked with how well it worked. I had it in the back of my mind to try it on some titanium knife scales some day, as my searches for info came up empty. Well, today was that day. And it works.

The darker area is where I actually used the air eraser, the shiny area was masked off. I believe besides being able to use it for putting designs on the scales I should in theory be able to do my own "spa treatment" to clean up snail trails and stuff.

Kinda rad.

Yah, that worked great !
Careful you don't breath that stuff (use excellent resperator / blasting chamber even better) we don't want you getting silicosis or some such.
I know of what I speak. I spent a year or so working with ultra fine ceramic shell casting medium . . . the sand blast booth was in the same room (isolated from the rest of the work force). Once I moved to a different job I was feeling the effects for some time. Gone now. I wore a good 3M mask but eight hours a day some is bound to sneaking in around the edges.

There were many grits I worked with but the finest was fine enough to reproduce finger prints, first in the ceramic shell then in the fine art bronze castings we were doing.

Very cool. Yes, I have a small blast cabinet and a respirator, goggles and gloves.

Perfect timing with the Punisher skull too since Netflix's rendition just released.

It turned out incredible though. That's definitely the coolest Sage 2 I've seen thus far!

I didn't think this was art necessarily... but I just noticed the blade and the skull kinda make a yin and yang. Sometimes I'm cool by accident...

My original plan was a distressed flag theme, simplified it to a Punisher skull at the last minute. Wished i had done a bantha skull half way through....

Do you get a rough feel on the titanium. I like titanium but would like it to have more texture.

Yes, it gives it a slight texture. The blasting media I used gives a darkening and texture somewhere between stonewashed and the more heavily textured finish like on a Sebenza. I'm planning on experimenting with some other media soon.
