I have an Ontario USAF survival knife dated 10-76. The original leather stock sheath is in bad shape, but the knife is fine. Does OTC sell the sheath only. I have an after market nylon sheath but would like to replace the original leather one.

The sheaths that were being used by 76 should look much the same as the one you ordered. Don't use much in the way of leather treatment on it if you want it to stay stiff. I prefer to use some neutral color shoe polish very occasionally to protect the leather for knifes I use. If it's not out in the elements it won't need much, temperature and humidity extremes are the big problems for leather.

I Purchased the original one in 1977 and put brown shoe polish on it to darken it. The knife was used a lot then stored away for years, then resurrected and used for many more. Living in south Louisiana, this knife and sheath has seen its share of heat and humidity. The stone has long been lost. I think the replacement sheath has one. This knife will be my camp/field knife again. Again thanks for the reply.

Sheath with stone arrived in the mail today. Sheath is darker than I expected, so I don't have to darken it. It is slightly different from the original, but overall I am very satisfied with it.

Good to hear. The Louisiana weather is going to test that leather, but sounds like you know how to deal with it.
