Airkat uses Surgical Tubing in knives?!?!?

If you look at the new Scorpion line from Duane Carillo, he uses surgical tubing to hold the wrapping in place.
These knives look awesome (to me), much better than the previous models,
BUT I don't want a knife that expensive that uses surgical rubber in the handle, from what I understand, it decomposes after several years.
Any thoughts?

I think it would make for a pretty secure grip. And when it needs replacing it should be easy to do on your own. I like it and find it to be pretty innovative.
