I was headed out to the Seattle area to hook up with my brother-in-law for a week of fishing. I text him mentioning that I hated leaving my pocket knife behind or in the $40 freaking baggage claim because I felt naked without it. He replied and told me now you can take a knife with a blade 2 1/2 inch or shorter on board.
So I rummaged through my stash and decided on an expendable Victorinox Pocket Pal. Well guess what, they confiscated it at the first gate!
:grumpy:
So first thing I bought along with a temporary fishing license was a CRKT Pazoda! Had to leave it there too!

TSA has wonderful bins full of knives for supervisors to pick from each night after work.
You don't really think that they melt them down, do you?

TSA screws us even when they try to be nice. They came out with a new policy of allowing small blades on board but before it went into effect, the airline stewards went nuts and got the policy rescinded.

Of course, more people heard about the relaxed policy than heard it wasn't going to go through.

I actually got on a plane with a leatherman ps4 for the short time this policy was in effect.

And then they sell them. By the box, by the pound, sumpin'.

I've followed this web trail before and been to the site(s?) which sell stuff but not this time. There used to be a guy at a local gun show who had bins of confiscated knives for sale.

Just did a trip to Mass. and had an SAK I was bringing back as a momento. No checked bags to make the last minute flights with layovers easier. I sent a box of stuff back to myself while there and forgot to put in the SAK. At the last minute I realized I had absolutely no way of getting my momento home on that plane. I poked a hole in the box at the UPS store and crammed the knife in, hoping it would not be trashed in transit. Sheesh!

It made it OK:)

That was a regulation they announced about a year ago and as soon as it made the news Congress jumped all over it. There was other stuff in the order now allowed like hockey and lacrosse sticks but the knives thing never went into effect. As much as I like knives, mine go in my checked luggage*

*Except this one time recently where I got to fly private, on the generosity of a friend of a friend (who has more money than he knows what to do with) to Las Vegas, I took 2 knives in my carry on bag and no one said anything.
