I need some help on these BB guns.
I bought one today for my 8 year old at a flea market,I don't think it was the Airsoft brand. It was very cheap 3.00 + 1.00 for the BBs.In a word he loved it but it started to fail after around 50 rds.I would like to know the ins and out of these guns so I can find him a nice one that is made better.
Thanks for any help on this.

try searching the net for airsoft sites. Redwolf airsoft is a nice site. Pretty much anything manufactured by a company called Tokyo Marui will be great. Though their AEG's are pretty expensive, usually arround 250-400 USD. They do offer spring pistols for around 40 bucks a peice but u have to cock it every time u shoot it.

Hope that helps

That does help.I need to get the info on the companies that make the better ones.
Thanks

Poweredge is supposed to have a good selection at resonable prices. And for some reason happens to be affiliated by a same-name shop carrying the same stuff here. It also happens to be one of the best places to pick up blades on the island.

There are basically three types of Airsoft guns: AEG's- use batteries and electric motors to compress air and are mostly assualt rifle and sub-gun designs. Springers- use a manually cocked spring to compress air and are found as both pistol and assualt rifle designs, as well as some sniper rifle designs. Gas Guns- use compressed gas and are mostly pistol designs that also use the power of the gas to make the slide of the pistols move in a realistic manner with each shot.

There are many forums out there you can find info and opinions on manufaturers. But as far as a good quality gun, you can't go wrong with most anything from Tokyo Marui, they even make smaller scaled AEG's for kids. Other companies to look into would be Classic Army, G&G and ICS. RedWolf's site is good for pics and info/spec's but just keep in mind that they are in Hong Kong, so shipping and customs can be an issue. Here is a good forum that has allot of info http://www.neasg.org/forums/ and here are some reviews http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=48869

Also keep in mind Airsoft is like anything else, the better the quality and performance the more money they cost.

How about a Red Ryder? Or is this something to shoot at other kids for fun? I used to have a $20. airsoft 1911, until I got sick of how stupid it was and dispatched it with my real 1911. If your looking for a cheap toy, the rack the slide every shot spring loaded kind you'll find at a sporting goods store will last a long time.
