This thread was posted on the RAT forum but i thought that i should get a wider opinion.
I have been looking for a decant survival knife for ages but haven't found just what Ive wanted.
Ive always liked the space in hollow handled survival knives but worried about there lack in strength at the joint between handle and blade. After reading an article at http://www.donrearic.com/aitor.html (article about the Aritor Jungle king and the Whitby explorer) however i was almost sold.
Ive been looking at the jungle king 2 and want some opinions on the designe and strength (if its possible to guess) of the knife.

Are the mentioned knives of a decant quality that would last in a survival situation?

Where would i be able to buy knives like this in South Africa or would i have to ship them down?

Below are links to the sites that i found them on.

I saw these knives at www.sharpedge.co.za

The shop is in Sandton City and has an excellent range to choose from.

Not sure if I would get the Jungle King - there are some far more decent knives for the money.

If you want a hollow handle knife and are worried about strength between the handle and blade, look no farther...http://www.chrisreeve.com/pffixed.htm

But you better act fast, the One Piece Range is being discontinued after 28 years. CRK stopped taking orders on December 1st. The knives are still available through many dealers.

I used to have the Aitor Vivac and it was a really cool knife, but the quality was really crap. I've read that it has 440 steel, but the handle came loose, the logo fell off etc. Ok, I bought it when I was a kid, so it's like 20-something years ago; but, they still sell the same model.
