Russ Ellis of Triton Works Custom Scabbards has recently made a scabbard for an AK-47. He has posted a pic and review on the MyArmoury.com forums here: http://www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=4917&start=20 (it's at the bottom of the page). I've dealt with Russ before and he's a top notch guy.

I like the nice and clean design of the sheath.

Does the blade lock into the sheath or is it friction based?

I can't wait till I get my sheath for my AK-47, so I can take it camping.

JRB,

Killer scabbard for the AK-47!!!  :D

Congrats!!!

Thanks for posting the pics!!!!

Triton works is awesome! I've seen many of his designs and all are very well done, and he works in the traditional patterns as well. The wood/leather scabbard style is someting that takes many years to master, not to mention ya have to be very good at TWO crafts!

Any congrats, unfortunately, can't go to me. Alas, I'm not the lucky owner of this sword. :( However, Russ has made a scabbard for my custom early Scottish dirk and it's a fantastic piece. I'm happy to recommend him to anyone. Russ's wood cored scabbards are lined with wool to protect the steel (natural lanolin). I believe the AK-47 scabbard is held by friction. Russ can do all kinds of customization, though.
