Nice sharking! I would've took a bite at that one for sure....thanks for saving me a skinning by the wifey...:)

It was completely by accident - I very rarely lurk this forum on the weekends. I think I might make it a habit...

Great snatch, good for you I was looking the other way when Auntie posted it because I would of totally jumped on this one.

The 3/8 spine puzzles me though. They are typically more like 5/8.

I predict typo, more than 3/8" but I've never seen a 5/8 either, somewhere in between. 5/8 is really thick, right at 5/8" you know. The hole is getting deeper and I'm still digging, I'm trying not to appear to be talking down since everyone, well most know what 5/8" is ya know.

I'm done digging.

That is one heck of a bowie. It's heavier than my 15" ang khola. I expect it to be a very good chopper.

They are actually a full 3/8 at the ricasso but quickly tapers off to less in each direction. There is distal taper through the handle to the lanyard hole and also from the spine to the cho. Its is really beautifully tapered in all directions and makes for a wonderful balance. The spine is not much thicker than the smaller mini and even micro but since it is so much wider it gives it plenty of forward weight for chopping. The weight distribution is really pleasant for chopping without having to be 1/2" thick.

Auntie had another one with wood handle... I couldn't resist to buy it.

Ndog is right, I just measure the 12" and it is 3/8. The 5/8 figure is for the 20" AK... Not the Bowie. Sorry for the confusion.

From the left #1 and #2 Auntie's pic of the 14 3/4 Bowie I just bought and #3 a shot of the 12" I already have

I shouldn't have looked at that. Theres a place in my heart for a 15" Bowie. Lots of bad influence around here.
