Oh, no, you didn't!

Oh, yes, I did. :D

But I will say this: The AK Bowie is an excellent chopper, with many outstanding qualities in general.

I must admit it fails as a fillet knife.

In the pic, notice the only mod I've done to it is to wrap the pommel with paracord- it does help a little with grip.

Luckily this red drum was big enough that I still got a couple of decent fillets for dinner. But though sharp, the AK Bowie didn't have what it took to do an efficient job, and I wound up switching to a Rapala fillet knife.

Also attached is a sunset, and a rare pic of the Cursed FEMA Trailer's interior- see the khuk stand?

Ad, please explain what a cursed Fema trailer is. Is it a trailer the Government chips in after a hurricane? Or are you a bureacrate working for the Govt? I think you may have mentioned this before, but I've forgotten if you have.

With a 3/8" to 1/2" thick blade, the AK Bowie isn't the thinnest fillet knife around. I guess that's why the "HI Bird and Trout Knife" name didn't stick. Nice pics though.

Thanks, guys.

My FEMA housing guy told me the Gov't bought up every RV for 1,000 miles around, in order to house the 6,500 families in Santa Rosa & Escambia counties whose homes were destroyed after Hurricane Ivan last Sept. (also Baldwin cty. in Alabama). 12 foot storm surge will do that.

My RV became cursed during the winter... it's a long story- see the "Cursed War Club" thread, I explain it there. Basically, I am (jokingly) willing to embrace evil because things are so bad, any change will be worthwhile.

Don't anybody feel sorry for me- and I have never asked this forum for smoke. In life you gain & lose things, it's just the way it goes. Yin & yang. So last year I had it made. House on the water, beautiful wife, easy job. Boat. It all changed in one day.

Cold fronts roar down the bay. 40 mph winds rock the trailer, tear the door out of your hand. Run out of propane & freeze. Contractor will fix your house- for 40K more than insurance paid. Alcohol & weapons your only company. Night.

Seven months later, things are happening. House is being fixed. Can only recoup our losses by selling, but that looks like a probability. But then, the future is wide open.

Hey, I caught a fish today. That's a good thing.

Nice fish AA.

I think your bowie looks cooler than mine. Not sure why, but yours seems to have more of a forward curve to it. Could be the picture I suppose.

Do you still have your wife and the easy job? I pray that you didn't lose her on that day too.

The AK Bowie is a great fillet knife...you have the wrong fish.

Try it on a bull shark...

.

Good way to deal with cursed FEMA trailer (and vanquish all evil!):

Leave a pile of redfish heads in the corner when you go.

The smell might be horrible but just think of what all those hours on the water will do for your outlook!

Still have a beautiful wife, or was she swept away?

Hang in and catch more fish.

Looks wonderful Mad Asstra although a little small!!!!! :p :D ;)

Funny, I had an email from the Fabian guys out of Texas that they were bringing up the first load of fresh shrimp, blue crab, flounder, and whatever else they're bringing to sell the first load this spring.:D
The fresh seafood is always well iced and very, very, fresh and tasty.
When we lived in Texas when I was a wee lad my old man and a couple of his buddies would go to the Gulf over a weekend and come home with a couple hundred of the redfish and their larger cousins the big ocean drum.
I've been thinking about the redfish lately and when I received Fabians email I wrote them back asking why they never brought any redfish up.
Hell I'd rather have a good redfish than I had those skinny assed flounders!!!!
I haven't received an answer back as yet but if I don't they might wind up emailing my ISP complaining about online stalking.
I want some Redfish!!!! :p :D ;)

I may have to check out the couple of local seafood markets we have here in Tulsa. One is Bodean's and they're higher than the snout on a high reachin giraffe and the other is the White River Fish Market who are a tad more reasonable.
One of the few places where a man can still buy buffalo fish and redhorse. Both are similar looking to carp but that's only a resemblance. The meat is considerably different.
Buffalo and redhorse used to be caught frequently but they don't like polluted waters and aren't as plentiful as they once were.
