Hello everyone, I am interested in purchasing an AK Bowie. I heard there was trouble in Nepal not too long ago, and that blade production had slowed down. Are these knives still being made, and are the kamis all alright? Does anyonr have personal experence with this knife? Any comments on your experences? Also, are these knives zone hardened like the Khuks are?

Thanks everyone. God bless.

I absolutely love my AK Bowie, I can't say enough great things about it. It is now my standard camping/outdoors knife. It retains most of the excellent chopping power of the larger khuks in a design that i find a bit more universally useful. For instance I can use it for chopping small trees and logs for shelter, split wood with it, and then turn around and use it to clean fish or cut steaks. Its tough as nails and makes a great prybar and if you are used to using other bowie style knives it pretty well drawfs everything else out there in bouth size and thickness. So all around, if you havent already gotten this impression, its pretty well excellent. I had a sheath made for mine so I can scout carry it, and I sharpened it up but other than that I havent found any changes really necessary. :) Bill

My gosh... Thats it, I gotta sell my sword so I can get one. I love the handle wrapping by the way Andrew.

John, that's funny... what my wife said when she saw it - "That's about the ugliest handle you've ever done! Looks like a giant caterpillar poopie....!"

Glad you like it!

I believe it is satisal wood....what quite alot of H.I khuks come equipped with, however it could be bayar or walnut, I dont think it's walnut but it's so dern pretty that it's hard for me to be sure with just a pic.

Care to enlighten us, Ilbruche?

We have Bura and other Kamis in the shop who makes few Knives for HI.
However, due to on going problems in Nepal blade production had slowed down. I am sold out the AK bowie for now but the shipment from Nepal will get here within few weeks. Check back in a month. Thank you

Lovin' the AK Bowies. Really like the scales covering all the way to the end of the pommel, Andy. Honestly though, I don't think that knife is big enough for a Texan and you need to send it to me here in yankee town : )
