AK Cleaver

I remember some discussion about the possibility of an AK cleaver knife a while ago.

Does anyone know the status on this project? Interest? Is Pala taking the specs back to Nepal with him when he leaves November 5? Is there a sign up sheet yet? Any guestimated delivery dates?

I think an AK Cleaver would sell. After all, every kitchen needs one!

I use a number of different ones in my kitchen...none optimal, but they all work!

The grandkids love watching me chop up watermelon...they say I do it a lot faster than their Mom...go figure.

Yangdu told me she thought it would be here in November.

Here's hoping it will come out right.

Actually, we are talking bout the AK Bowie with a straight flat edge and the removal of the clip point. What that makes it is anyone's guess.

I've wanted this for a long time. Seems to me the flat edge allows real usefullness out of the knife, whereas right now it's a big honkin killer knife.

hehehe...

"The munk Chunk"

sorry...I had to...there...it's HI history now.

Interested in seeing it. Maybe I'll have the funds, by the time it arrives!

Customs lost the drawing. New one shipped priority today. I tried to include a etching of Semper Fi's face from the wanted poster but Yangdu said that would cost too much money.

Probably figure December now.

I'm sure "The munk Chunk" will be a major hit!

All together...

"The munk Chunk"...keep saying it to yourself...

Never mind. If I left what I posted I'd have to move the thread over to the Cantina side. ;) :D

Our resident knife experts, like Yvsa and others, are probably correct the knife should be thinner. But I didn't want to attempt any major changes. We have the return of Cobalt's original point, or at least close, and the edge is now straight until it lifts at the end to the point. You'll be able to rock and roll on a cutting board. And the thing may be a more useful Big Honking Killer knife than before. (though If I were directing Deliverance ll, one of the bad guys should surely have the original AK Bowie.)

I'll probably always wonder if the design could be more attractive. Yvsa or Dan or N2Sharp might have been able to slick it up some.

I think it will be cool. I don't know if it'll hit the ugly duckling role or not. Those contours on the original AK Bowie take away some functions, but they are beautiful. It'll hopefully have the fullers and be the same, sans clip point and in-raised edge.

I've wanted HI's AK Bowie to made into a cleaver for a long time. I just dropped the edge maybe 3/4", enough to give your hand clearence. It lost the clip point because Cobalt and some other folks thought it would be neat not to have a clip.

The 'chunk' should be kicking around outdoors and at camp, and can handle any of the more menacing kitchen duties, like heavy bones.

But...will "The munk Chunk" be approved for competition in the big Lawn Darts contest at the next MKKK???

Lawn darts would be the munk plunk. What you hope is a chunk may turn out to be a clunk.

I'll like it because it will do more work.

The "Munk Chunk." The "Munk Chunk!" The "MUNK CHUNK!"

Hmm. We have the "Foxy Folly," so what about the ... "Chunky Munky?" :D

("Back off man! Or I'll take a chunk out of you with my Chunky Munky!")

Sounds like a hit to me. (-:
