AK Report on Busse Forum

LOL! I have 5 HI's and only 4 Busses... I don't need assimilation :)
The Chiruwa AK easily outchops knives that cost over twice as much.

to the cantina. You'll fit right in with that glowing eye and cybertronix. Are you programed to be immune to HIKV? resistance is futile, as I'm sure you already know.:)

I would pay $$$ to get Bura and Jerry Busse in the same shop. It could be a total disaster, but if not. . .

The HI Borg could be said to be the actual physical manifestation of HIKV, and as such has no need to resistance to assimilation. All who come in contact are assimilated. The HI Borg has monitored the meta-entity known as the cantina for some time before making his presence known. The advance scouts have seen to it that it is already a thriving colony of interconnected assimilated entities. Thus the HI Borg could be said to be just "hanging out" in between assimilating new HI users.

Welcome to the Cantina.
We will welcome and add your bibliographycal and technical posts to our own. Your vouchar will adapt to buy your next khukuris. Resistance is futile.

Couple things; you don't compare two knives by having them cut different mediums from one another. Oh, I know Busse is the best (?) but it cut BRUSH, and the AK cut WOODEN limbs. I'm not engineer, but I know velocity times weight, i know momentum, and the AK was subject to a hell of a lot more stress cutting wood than the lighter Busse was cutting brush. So yeah, it needed more edge work afterwards. Though, you know, kinda funny about that. Most of my khukuris really don't need edge work after cutting wood.

Anyway, if a Busse costs what? 500 to 1000? A khukri model might run 2000 dollars. I see some in the thread wanted a khukri Busse. By all means, buy one.

er... could you introduce me to Seven of Nine, Unimatrix Zero?

I could help with the socialization training.

You will be assimilated:

The Busse Battle mistress, which was the largest blade in the Busse Line at 9.5" blade, cost $350. The old line was just discontiuned and the new line will be unveiled at Blade 2003. There will probably be a new Battle MIstress. BUsse makes some really fine knives and has an awesome warrantly. The HI Khukuris are also great blades. I have two Khukuris and ONe BM on order. TO me they are different knives of different lengths with different purposes. I fell in love with Khukuris while trekking in Nepal and using several customs I bought there. You can not go wrong with a Busse or HI Khukuri. I have been vey happy with the performance of my other BUsses and the Khukuris I have owned in the past.

Yep, comparing a khuk and a Busse knife is apples and oranges. But I do have a lot of respect for Jerry. It started when he popped his head into the HI forum a few months ago and congratulated us on passing 30,000 posts (again!) which I thought was pretty classy. Then I started reading the Busse forum. That bunch is nearly as crazy as the cantina regulars! Crazy in a different way, but still completely nuts.

In terms of knives, I give the design advantage to HI. The khukuri is tough to beat. But the materials advantage goes to Busse. Not surprising, given the technology at our fingertips in the American economy (can you imagine laser-engraved kami marks and HI logos!) and materials available. If Mercedes starts making INFI leaf springs, Busse Combat may be in trouble! (INFI is the proprietary Busse steel, which performs very well, according to Cliff Stamp and other reviewers).

What I see that both have in common is raw passion for the craft and dedication to function. That's why I'd like to see Jerry and Bura get together - I think they're sides of the same coin, but born half a world apart into different circumstances. Thus some pretty extreme differences in what their knives look like and act like.

I've never met anyone at Busse, other than in the forums, and don't own any Busse knives. When I go to Blade, I'm looking forward to checking out their booth, and seeing if my impressions are true to life. Maybe I'll also get some Busse knives, after the khuk collection is complete :D

dunno. Sounds a bit too impersonal to me. I have grown fond of the weird nuances of handmade blades,,,have some African, Javanese, Chinese, Nepalese, and american handmade handforged blades that I think would hold their own against a modern stock removal blade, even if it was made from heat treated Unobtainium.

that was very diplomatic and a well put point, Tohatchi

. . .yes, the folk over on the Busse forum are quite nuts.

Well, they're not "Uncles Crazy Deals" crazy, or "Palas Insane giveaway" crazy, else they'd pass us in post count. They might just be a bit loopy, or marginally deranged, perhaps.

Not the full-on, frothing face, shield biting Berserker crazy, like us.

Keith

Eh, they're crazy, but it's a different sort of crazy. And they do have deals, just not IPD's or UBBB's.

As far as posts go, they did beat the "Phantom" thread for single largest thread. Of course, that was done in one huge push in an evening known as "Death Chat". So it's a different shade, like Wild West (HI Cantina) with no rules save gentlemanly conduct, versus Spec Ops (Busse forum) where the rulebook exists and looks real nice getting thrown out the window. :D

Can you tell I've been observing the enemy? Prepare to be assimilated! :D

Do you think HI Borg would be assimilated if we sent him to the Busse forum?

:barf:
