Recently, at a small So. Cal. get together I was able to play with a Ruck and compare it to my AK. I love the size of the Ruck. Very compact. But one thing we all (Morimotom, pbusby, and myself) noticed was how much thinner the handles on the Ruck are. The Ruck handles were much thinner feeling in the hand. Morimotom had a great idea about getting mags put on it. Is that standard = Rucks have thinner handles?

Tyrkon,

Mine also had the same thin scales...I traded it off because I couldn't get a very secure grip on it....if it had scales that were just a little thinner than the AK scales it'd be perfect!

I DID really like the size like you mention, but that's where I leave off on it :(

all Rucks are thinnner scaled than AK...

for the smaller blade of the ruck, i prefer the thinner scales as it transitions faster (from one grip to another) and lets it feel more lively/tossable in the hand.

Yes, all of the Rucks have thinner handles. I also like them, they are significantly thinner though. Here are a couple of pics to illustrate the difference (black AK has Al handles)

Wow. That last photo really tells the story. Thanks, Eric.

Hammy's Ruck grips seem to taper to fatter at the end also.
I bet that makes it an entirely different knife!

The three Rucks that I have handled were thin like Porkersons...

What are the chances of the Ruck blank showing up again in a different combo?
Black G10 and a double cut if anyone important is reading this...;) ;)
