Well, inspired by Nozh's post about Manila Rope I decided to grab some from the local hardware store. Home Depot. No one was around to help me, as usual, so I climbed up the shelving and cut about 13'. There was no label on it but it appeared to be approx 1" in diameter. The biggest they had. I'll have to get some 2" or 3". It was 49 cents a foot. Probably way too much but I needed some fun tonight. I'll look for better sources later.

I sharpened my AK with the Edge Pro. It was necessary to do it in sections. Not perfect but it came out pretty darn good.

(It's dark here now so I apologize for the poor lighting)

I have no idea how they do this in knife cutting competitions. I just tied it to a beam on my patio and let it hang free.

Sweet. Now you know what the next step is in testing the Kensai? For a true Samurai sword to be called great is to past the 5 body dissection test.

Now, where to find the bodies?

I think there are a few on TGTBTU that may be worthy. :D:p

I'd like to try it on the rolled mats as well. I just have to find a good source.

Rolled mats may be easier to acquire than the bodies. But, you gotta make do with what is available, and acceptable.

Give a man enough rope... LOL! :D Nice clip, TL!!:thumbup: ...Makes me wanna go chop something... :D:thumbup:

That's thank Tyrkon once again to show us his awsome video so I can keep my AK in mint condition :p

Seriously, hey my man, good stuff. I do have a question for you that i am curious about. I knew you use your AK a lot, and cutting the rope does proves it is in sharp condition. My question is, is it still in factory condition or you did self sharpen to keep it edge

wuyeah: The "Factory Condition" is long gone. :p I used my Edge Pro to sharpen the AK. The edge is in excellent condition but not factory. Other than that, and the coating removal, everything else is the same.:thumbup:

Well, don't blame me - this is part of ABS competition. Rope is hanging free and at the end they may tape additional pieces of ropes - 2' long to cut them all in one hit. It is in November 2006 Blade and last Blade also have it.

ABS contestants have a lot of fun there - most i like cutting rolling free on the table ping-pong ball.

Cut 1" rope hanging on the thread, without ripping thread.

Pierce watter filled balloon hidden under steel cake pan.

etc..

I'll search my old Blade magazines to find more "fun with the knife".

Thanks, Vassili.

Looks like fun buddy! Now it makes me want to go cut some rope.

 uh oh! :D

I googled "manila rope" and got a lot of hits. Some were really think. But since I do not plan on doing this all the time I think my local hardware store will suffice.

TL....I just dig how you use your blades bro. It's soooo cool to actually see these Busse blades get used the way they were designed to be used....hard and fast! Right on bro...you da bomb, ya crazy Busse Ninja!

I would really like to see, how some dedicated AK-junkie, go for the battodo-"art of cutting" session as they did(do) in japan.
you don't need bodies: get a bunch of reeds tie them into a roll, put in the center a thicker bamboo, put in the water for two(?) days, than take out, and put your fav zombie face onto it...and go, cut!:D
here's some polish battodo:

Tyrkon, I am shopping for some 3" rope for Busse whacking. Were you able to locate any at reasonable lengths?
