The AK47 webpage reads "features our new Patent Pending Corrugated Bevel technology." What is a corrugated bevel? What are the up-/down-sides of corrugating the bevel? What size *corrugations* are we looking at here? What is the location on the blade, size, and spacing of these corrugations? What's Jerry hiding in the fine print? Why is the patent only pending? Can the corrugations be straightened out by quenching the blade in Johnny Walker Blue or CBL? Can we blame Porkerson for this? Why have Skunk & the other elite cognescenti Hogs remained so silent on this matter (La Cosa Hogstra)? Is this more Wauseon FUD (Furtively Urgent Distraction) to keep us off the trail of other, more rare, INFI treasures?

FWIW, I didn't spot any "corrugations" in the cross-section photo or other pictures that were posted in the AK-47 Destructive Tests thread which states:
"The grinds are so unique on the new AK-47 that we will soon have a patent pending on the process. We call it a “CC Bevel”. The CC Bevel is convex and allows us to offer the absolute accuracy and repeatability of CNC technology with greatly improved performance over traditional grinding methodologies. When compared to flat grinds or traditional hand ground convex blades out of the same material and heat treat, there is a marked increase in both strength and flexibility. The edges are taken to near “Zero” prior to coating and are left very fine for cutting soft targets.

C'mon Uncle Jerry, 'fess up -- What gives with the corrugations?? Tell us more.... Give us the skinny.... Break open another CBL and tell us the 2nd Gen AK-47 story again, this time with ALL the details..... ;)

i have heard of these strange bevels before, the best way i can esplain it would be....

reverse serrations as in the pattern of ultraviolet light which wave lengths kill any and all bacteria, virus and protozoa's. this is used in some civil water systems. busse has developed a machining center in conjunction with the inel (Idaho National Engineering Laboratory's) sub atomic excellerator to create said waves, which are invisable to humanoids.

I thought they were genuine imitations of artificial reproduction psuedo-replicants, with a choice of handles......

The name was so chosen so that when a victim falls to its edge, it will be said "See, a CC Rider".....  :p

Maybe he's just working his way thru the alphabet, since we have AA, and BB, well, CC was the next logical step in the progression.

I just can't wait til we see what he comes up with for Double-D!!!

CBT. . . . Imagine a Ruffles potato chip made out of INFI ! ! ! ! . .. That's it!!!! :D

So, do you find it amazing that you could probably sell a Ruffles potato chip made out of INFI?

I'm probably not alone when I say "Me me me me pick me...I can't have just one!" LOL

I had a talk with Jerry about Corrugated Bevel Technology. I'll answer what questions I can, as best I understand:

What is a corrugated bevel?

The blade has very tiny corrugations, like Ruffles chips corrugations, lengthwise along the bevel.

What are the up-/down-sides of corrugating the bevel?

First, as he mentioned, an increase in strength and flexibility. Second, it allows for the bevel and rough edge to be CNC machined, instead of hand ground, thereby increasing precision (and, I'd conjecture, lower costs). Third, the corrugated bevel means there is less blade contact area, behind the very edge, with the material being cut, which means less friction and greater cutting efficiency.

And the down-sides? I don't know, but I'd guess that the technology might not survive reprofiling. Perhaps it would call for different sharpening, too, but I'm not sure.

What size *corrugations* are we looking at here?

If I'm understanding right, they're little, like the corrugations in the surface of a fresnel lens.

What is the location on the blade, size, and spacing of these corrugations?

Already been answered as well as I can.

What's Jerry hiding in the fine print?

You must sacrifice the first-brewed from every batch.

Why is the patent only pending?

As someone who has been working my way through the patenting process for the last couple years, myself, I can't imagine why the patent is taking so long....

Can the corrugations be straightened out by quenching the blade in Johnny Walker Blue or CBL?

Those will only increase the corrugation. If you want to straighten the corrugations out, it requires a luke-warm, diet, peach-flavored wine cooler.

Can we blame Porkerson for this?

Definitely. They're relying on this.

Why have Skunk & the other elite cognescenti Hogs remained so silent on this matter (La Cosa Hogstra)?

Like we're going to explain to you why?

Is this more Wauseon FUD (Furtively Urgent Distraction) to keep us off the trail of other, more rare, INFI treasures?

Ummm... I surely don't know what you're talking about.

Evolute. . . . they're on to us. . . take the little "white pill" ! ! ! !

And don't screw up by taking the little "blue pill" like Skunk did at BLADE Show. . . Shaggi hasn't been the same since that happened!!!! :barf: :D

 LOL!
I just figured you used that description due to the JWB making everything seem a little wavy.

I try to learn something new everyday. Even if it's wrong. :D

Neither will Garth. Something about 'pink', maybe.
