I spotted this AK47 bayonet at a flea market recently. I noticed the steel was of dubious quality and the overall status of the knife was questionable.

The seller's price tag caused my eyebrows to move upwards. However, I thought it was one of those relics which have faded slightly into history.

The seller said it is no longer manufactured.
Anybody knows more about this bayonet?

I'll forward your question on Russian forum, may be somebody will recognize this model.
Do you have any marks on it?
Thanks, Vassili.

The answer is so far that this looks like original Russian made bayonet - first design. So this means that it is best Kalashnikov bayonet made by Russian, later the quality droped significantly, but this one has good steel well hardened (of course - better then other Kalashnikov bayonets). Everibody prefers to has this bayonets then other.
Thanks, Vassili.

This questions turns really touchy for everybody on Russian Forum - any one has his one personal experience etc:

But in short:
on the left: shtyck-nozh for AKM and AK-47 length total-270mm, blade-150 mm, width-30mm, internal ring-17,6 мм.
on the left: shtyck-nozh for AK 1959 year model, length total-280mm, blade-150mm, width-30 мм, internal ring-17,7mm.
(According to Andrei Mak).
Blade is tough, but not sharp - bayonet must not break - major use stubing and throwing.
Thanks, Vassili.

Other interesting info: Vietnameeze Army has access both to Russian and American weapons (left there after war untouched in army warehauses). They always choose KaBar not AK bayonet (as well as AK not M16).

Thanks, Vassili.
Added later:
Actually KaBar is standart issue for VPA rangers.
