Hey all! Hopefully my Alaskaganzaa 511 will be here tomorrow and already see a few of you guys have em - how are you loving them? Got pics?

Really excited for this one - love Res-C on small blades!!!

Thanks!
-Harry

I like the sage tiger stripping on the blade but the res c handle is tiny IMO on the 511s, and I have small hands

Hmmmm small handles... love to see it next to a War Dog - those were pretty small I thought...

The 511 handle is about 3/4 in. Shorter than the war dog handle in regards to usable and comfortable handle space , it's kind of uncomfortable so I may put both of mine up on the 4sale subforum in a few months

I edited my last post, i meant to say it is the same overall length as the Wardog handle, but the Ricasso gets it the way, so I would say it's about 3/4 in less USABLE handle space than the war dog, the handle just feels small in hand, and sorry can't take pics now, but I'll post some tomorrow

Swamp Rat website is down, itchin to see one-edit, found a pic. Interesting design but I think I'll hold out.

Trailwolf - heres a pic of my res-c handled bussekins. All the butts of the knives are against the side of the tray.

For my medium sized hands it fits like a glove, any smaller would be too small. I think this has to to with the skinniness of resc. The wardog handle feels bigger because of the bulge in the middle imo.

I really like all of the resc handled knives I own. The 511 is very light, it feels like the lightest of the wardog scrapper 5 and 511.

Thanks for the awesome pic - wow it really is a tiny little package!! Should be a perfect companion blade to a Mistress or other big chopper...

Here is mine. I am not sure that I will keep it. I think I would rather have another RMD. It is a sweet knife. I bet this will be great stripped. The coating is very thin and quite smooth.

Got a direct comparison with a ruler in there to help
wardog511ruler.jpg

My hands are fairly short and fat mediumsmallish and it fits in my hand, the handle is very noticeably smaller than the war dog and I found myself moving back into a 3 finger grip a few times when I was chopping vines with gloves, because of the shape and curve of the handle I feel a lot more comfortable hanging off the edge than I would with a straighter handle.

It fits in my hand quite comfortably, but with the added spacing of gloves it does tend to swing towards the smallish side, fine for me though because unless I'm tackling a task that I know I'm going to get poison ivy or a bunch of thorns I don't normally wear gloves.

Oh yeah... thickness too, the 511 is a decent bit thinner of a handle (and blade obviously) I'm probably not showing it correctly but since you asked for a comparison of the 2 handles this is what I came up with so you could see as much as possible

Despite the differences in dimensions, I find both handles to be comfortable but suited for different things, the wardog seems very comfortable and makes my hand feel whittling, battoning, I want to make a featherstick, shave bark off, and baton through a bunch of wood when I pick it up
the 511 is also comfortable but the handle to me feels very choppingish, I want to chop up vines or chop through vines or take to chopping wedges out of firewood when I get it in my hand.
Not sure if that makes any sense at all but hopefully somebody understands what I mean, it's just how the handles feel.
