The rights you get are the ones the AKTI helps to protect for you!

Everyone who loves carrying a knife should be a member.

I know i'm gonna look back on this decision and say "What was I thinking?" but for now, I can not send them $50 because I would much rather have the money to get a knife. I can worry about keeping my knives after i've gotten more. I know this is extremely selfish too, and that my $50 would be used to help everyone, but I'm sorry guys.

That is the exact thing I was thinking because I would rather kinda like to buy more knives with my money...........

Sorry, guys... That's short term thinking, though I have some of that myself.

Enjoy your knives now. You'll miss 'em that much more, or enjoy them secretly, when the laws become more and more prohibitive like in some parts of Europe.

I'm just counting on the Libertarians getting some following in the United States. VOTE FOR HARRY BROWNE in 2000!

he isn't even trying to win... it's a 15% goal!

AKTI is not "for sale" like a product that you buy. It is not a matter of "what do I get for my money". Please try to raise the awareness level of your thinking.

Whether you like it or not, you (we) are part of AKTI just by being knife enthusiasts.

Whether you donate or not, you (we) are still part of AKTI.

You are commited to your hobby or knife business. You spend time and money here on the forums and elsewhere. The communication you get involved in here is valuable. Try to think of AKTI as an organized communication of a very large number of knife enthusiasts, knife makers, dealers, distributors and accessory industries.

Laws are only a part of the goal, which is to unite as an organized group. divided, we have no power.

To date, AKTI has been supported by a few (the regents), donating a fairly large amount of money. In addition to their donation, they work for free and they pay for all of their own travelling and communication expenses. The regents have no more personal gain than anyone else in the knife world.

The amount of money that AKTI is asking of ELUs (End Line Users) is minimal and fairly insignificant to the time and money spent on your hobby or knife business. Most of the money is asked of manufacturers, distributors, etc.

AKTI needs your input. AKTI needs your involvement. AKTI is more than a "spare tire" or "fire extinguisher". AKTI can be a living, driving force that represents the entire knife community. What do you (we) want AKTI to be?

I just looked at my AKTI newsletter and couldn't find a $50 membership.

The "Ambassador" membership is only $35.

Supporting organizations like the AKTI is how we show people, that we are more than consumers and producers, but, in fact, a community, who are willing and able to act as a unified group when our interests are at stake.

Please don't be penny wise and pound foolish.

Join AKTI today. The Ambassador Membership is less than almost any decent knife and it is important to this community.

AKTI is a growing organization dedicated to protecting YOUR right to own and carry knives.

Please join and actively participate. The costs in money and time are small compared to the benefit.

How are you going to buy more knives if it's illegal? Don't you want to preserve this right for your children? Do a search for my post re: AKTI membership and joining. Give something back, if you don't do it for anything else, do it for yourself. Then, you can feel like a real knife-nut. Since you don't pay for BladeForums, if you don't contribute your time to preserving these rights, if you don't offer anything significant to the knife community as a whole, and your not supporting AKTI, how can you feel like a part of the group? I had to think about it for a few weeks, then I realized that I was pretty much worthless to the knife community, then I decided to join AKTI. It's the least you can do, and you'll feel a lot better about your self.

Is 35$ dollars the deal they have running right now?? if it really is that cheap then I might join up thanx for all the advice guys and what do you get when you spend this money is there like a plastic card or a certificate or anything else also how long have you guys been members and have you constantly renewing your membership???

If you mean, what material things you get, you get a large sticker, (the kind you can stick on glass and re-apply anywhere, plastic kind.) a membership card, news letters, special access to their website. You also get the satisfaction of knowing you are contributing to the hobby you so love. This, IMO, out weighs the material things by far. I plan on re-newing.

Also, $35 is the "deal" they have for the Ambassador membership plan. But, remember, they are not selling a product in which to make profit, the less they offer this membership for, the worse off they are since they aren't making any profit to begin with. IMO, the plan should be $50, but you can donate anything you wish.

As a liberal who owns knives organization and unity seemed to me to be important given the proclivity of legislatures to outlaw anything in which their owners are not interested. Seemed to me that a lobbying organization makes sense. So I joined AKTI. We (knife owners, hobbyists, enthusiasts, etc.) should all consider joining.

Amen Sal!
It's a good idea folks- who was around & speaking up when autos were "outlawed" in the '50's? Nobody. The AKTI gives us a voice. Use it or lose it.
Regards,
Mike

I just signed up. I had printed up the form several times, but I never did send it in. Now you can go to the Online Membership Form and take care of it in just a few minutes.

Now you have no reason to put it off!
