I don't list it under my handle, couldn't figure out how, but I am a proud AKTI member. I just received their newsletter today and read the article about the new law in Boston. I'm glad that AKTI was able to influence this legislation but I wish that they had been able to actually change the length limit. (SAK's are now illegal. Maybe a newspaper ad could made this apparent and changed public opinion.) Which brings me to the reason for this post.
The AKTI is trying to moderate laws and maybe even change existing laws but their budget is extremely limited. Maybe I've been an NRA member too long but I think that the AKTI's effectiveness is seriously hampered by a lack of funds. They can't support political candidates, buy ads or even support lobbyists without funding. Everyone on this forum should be an AKTI member if they can afford it and the cost is cheap, only $35. Cheaper than one knife. We have to make this organization as effective as the NRA or we are slowly going to lose our right to carry knives. We have to influence public opinion and the political process.
Sorry, just venting I guess but I'm really frustrated with the spate of new laws. The AKTI must be adequately funded and supported if we expect to keep our knife rights. So if you're not a member - spend the money...join.
