Hello guys! I need some help!! Well I sold my AL MAR BOWIE a while back and missed it.. I know allot of guys dont think much about this over priced monster, but it appealed to me... Well my knife just arrived and I am little concerened. Its a beauty, but was wondering why some AL MARS clearly says SEKI-JAPAN(ENGRAVED) and others are INKED "JAPAN".. My new one is INKED JAPAN. Unfortantely I cannot remember if my original one said SEKI or not.. This AL MAR BOWIE (alaskin versons) are not easy to come by so i jumped on this one... If anyone could shed some lite that would be great

thanks

Okay guys I found out and would like to share the info

Al mar made a few variations of the AL MAR bowie, but mainly 2 types of the alaskin style.. A COFFIN handle and a low laying belly handle(something like that)
The COFFIN handle was a heavier steel an had a nice heavy weight to it.. It was stamped SEKI-JAPAN

the other type with the contour handle (low laying belly) used a lighter STEEEL(STILL HEAVY), but not has heav feeling as the COFFIN style and this one was not always stamped SEKI_JAPAN...

From what the expert said this was not a east knife to dube and is hard to find..
