I just got a browning 4" boot knife with what looks like an ebonywood handle marked SEKI JAPAN. This knife is a very high quality with P. Browning engraved in the nickel guard. If this is not an Al Mar I'll kiss yer grits! any info would be appreciated. When, Where, How many, Mint value, what ever......???? Thanks!

Your knife may have even been made in the same factory as Almar models but unless it has the Almar markings it is not an Almar. G.Sakai used to make Almars knives and also produce their own name models. You can see some examples on Spyderco's web site. If you want to see some other top examples of Seki made knives check out Beretta's International series with micarta and cocobolo scales. They are also very well made,as I can personally testify to, but they are not Almar because they dont carry the name.

Thanks for the info! I will look at the current brownings. Any Idea as to value for a perfect piece?

Al Mar made a lot of knives in japan, and some of them are virtually identical to other makers models. Some custom makers had their knives made by Al Mar and later by other makers and vice versa. The Fairbairn Appelgate is one example (currently made by Boker). The Al Mars tend to stand out when it comes to quality though.

I have an Al Mar boot knife w/ yellow handles & this Browning out shines it in a big way...
