Al Mar folders question

I recently got a chance to see a SERE and while impressed, heard the linear lock wears down on them over time if used for anything that would be considered heavy use for a folder. I didn't see any problems with it. Any truth to this or any users of these knives notice anything of the sort?

I have one and have had zero problems with it. It is an amazing knife and solid as a rock, IMO. Everyone I have spoken to about it comments on how strong it is.

IMO, you can't go wrong. It's one of the best liner locks out there. This is based on personal experience, not just "opinion".;)

Bought mine the day they came into the store, Im thinking close to two years ago or like maybe a year and half, anyway, carry everyday since then to work off work it dont matter, never have any problems with it, whats amazing is how well the thing sets in you pocket considering the size of it, is def. my favorite knife i own. Carries well, made well, big enough for about any job, how can u go wrong.

My favorite EDC knife, even though others get carried more. I like it so much that I bought a G2 leather sheath for it to ride in style. Thus, I only carry it when the belt sheath works. Not that I had a problem with the Al Mar clip, on the contrary it was nice and rode low. But with a knife this wonderful I thought it deserved the best.

I have the SERE II, which is a lockback. Blade in 6A steel, black neoprene handles with the gold plaque and the engraved shield on the SS bolsters and black nylon sheath.
I carried it dayly when I was in the army.
Great knife, tough as nails.

Absolutley bulletproof, superior value. While I do not carry it everyday due to it's weight, the SERE2000 is my go-to knife when outdoors, or I can reasonably expect to cut something tougher than an envelope. Also used it as an ocean knife on last vacation when I neglected to pack something lighter for the beach. It handled surf, sand, and salt swimmingly (pun intended). One problem, the weight tended to want to pull my trunks off in the surf. I wanted the beach to myself anyway, so maybe that really was'nt such a bad thing ;) .

The SERE 2000 is a fantastic knife, but the thumbstuds are an abomination...filing off the top tier helps a good bit, but they still suck.
Otherwise, it's a great knife indeed.

I wish they would switch to some MOD type thumbstuds.
