I just picked up an Al Mar hawk with brown jigged bone scales. I have liked these for years but I put off buying one in favor of the latest one handed flavor of the month many times in the past. I finally took the plunge today and I'm glad I did. These knives are as well put together as customs costing six to ten times as much money, and that is no exagerration. For someone like me who cannot afford an Osborne, Centofante or Jess Horn lockback, this is as good as it gets. My only quibble is that they could use VG-10 instead of AUS-8 for blade steel. Realistically, that won't make any difference since this is strictly a gents piece. I hope to leave this for my little one some day. It makes a wonderful purse or slacks knife with classic styling and no sense of "weapon intent."

Problem solved! Look at the new William Henry International's! Plus, you get the thumbstud to boot!!

I like the Hawk's as well, but I find again that I am addicted to thumbstuds and clips (especially when the knife still looks good after removing the clip).

I agree, fit and finish on the Al Mar's is great as usual.

There are just a few discounted on Ebay, and then you can find them at full price on knifeart and plazacutlery. You can also get one in black pearl at AG Russell.

Matt Conable told me that they were going to do them in red and green bone versions as well - I haven't seen one of those as of yet.

Their shop is currently closed as they are moving to McMinnville, Oregon. So, we won't be seeing much of anything from them for a while.

I have vacillated about purchasing a Hawk for over a year. I came really close at the last C&E gun/knife show in Charlotte but I ran across a "Lakeland" from Knife House Hara and had to have it. It had the Wharnnie blade, clip and the most gorgeous MOP scales I had ever seen. I'll still get a Hawk one day, probably with the Honey Jigged Bone scales, but don't tell the Wife. ;) ;)
