I guess this would be an early SERE?
Any idea on approx vintage?

Picked up at a pawn shop for $65, so I'm pretty sure I made out alright

It's most definitely one of the older ones. The back edge to the swedge is 90 degrees to the blade. On the two later ones I had (and sold) the rear edge was curved.
I bought mine in the early 90's and sold them both in 2006. One was the micarta handle and the other the neoprene.

Wish I had never sold them even though they were really too large to carry, especially without a clip.

Which sheath did you get with it. Smooth or basket weave. I had one of each at the time i had mine.
One smooth black, and one basket weave black. Also had a nylon sheath to fit them from Al Mar.

Everytime I see one of these, I wonder why Al Mar Knives ruined the SERE series with a liner lock.
