I need to know what these are worth. I have a person that wants to do a trade but I don't have a clue on the value of these.

They are all knives that were made when Al was still alive.

3 x 3004B This is the 7" fixed blade SERE with serrations on the top edge. Micarta handle with the SERE emblem on the bolster.

1 x 6050BK. This is AlMar's version of the Fairbairn Sykes. Solid brass handle, with an all black finish (blade, guard, handle). Small serrated section near the guard on both sides of the blade. I am not sure if this model ever made it to America.

2 x 40GM. Folder with a folding guard. Micarta handles. Leather belt pouch.

1 x Smatchet. Cordura sheath.

1 x 3002B Medium size SERE folder. Neoprene handle scales, cordura belt pouch.

All are NIB and none have even been in their sheaths except for the Smatchet

Any help is appreciated.

Phil

Can't help with value but I am interested in these if you wind up with them:

Please let me know if you get them and want to resell...

The Fairbairn-Sykes model never did make it to the U.S. in either that or the brass/polished blade format. Strictly European market as sent over by the original production firm in Japan.

As to the other models mentioned it is really hard to put fair value on them. No AMK collector club has ever been officially formed although the current owner of the company has long wanted to do just this.

The challenge is that there are a fair amount of these knives available at the shows, gun shows, and otherwise.

One way of fixing a price is to refer to the last AMK catalog you might have with prices for said models listed. Go with full retail and adjust, as offered or necessary, from there. A collector may or may not pay much more than full retail, depending on how badly he wants or needs the model mentioned. Go for the fair to all price and move the item swiftly to everyone's satisfaction.

Al's designs were very much specialized for specific audiences. Hunters wanted hunting knives, and cops wanted cop knives. The markets were and remain pretty straightforward in terms of who wants to buy what and why.

The bottom line is that one cannot go wrong with an AMK product.

And Al knew that better than anyone.

Best of luck with your sales.:D

Hi Phil,

while I don't know what they are worth right now I can tell you how much I payed:

3002B USD 140 (1989)
3004B USD 193 (1990)
Smatchet USD 277 (1992) this one is serial numbered xxx/200.

Please keep in mind I live overseas (from your point of view that is :) )

hope this helps

Greetings
