I have been out of the Cutlery Industry since 1989-1990, I was a Retail Manager of a Cutlery store and began collecting/buying knives in 1985. I acquired several Al Mar knives over those years and have since began to "Sell-Off" some of my stuff. My question is that I own a Eagle Talon which was produced pre 1992 and it is unique in that the scales are the entire length of the handles and appear to be black-wood and not Micarta. I recall some of the knives being produced with a Black African or Titan Wood but I am not sure on this one, AMK did not have a very extensive or detailed catalog in those days and the owner of our company had worked for Gerber and was a friend of Al Mar. We frequently received Pre-Production XXX/200 knives in our stores and due to the price point they would frequently ride around our (4) store chain without being purchased. Can anyone take a look at some pictures and give me a better idea of what I have, it does not appear to be to be Black Micarta...many thanks
