al mar lock problems

i have an al mar sere 2k, recieved in a trade, and it's developed a substantial amount of vertical blade play. pressure applied to the spine of the blade causes the lock to visibly move across the tang, and a very timid spine whack caused the lock to fail.
has anyone else had this problem with a sere 2k folder?
will the company do anything to resolve the issue? this is my first al mar, and other than the lockup issues, i am very impressed with this knife.
any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
don

Certainly not normal from what I know about Al Mars, and I've had several. I still EDC a Nomad from time to time. I've never had to use their CS but I've heard good things from people that have. I'd contact them and see what they say.

You do need to contact their CS before sending them your knife as I recall. I think they give you an RA # that needs to go on your package.

This is precisely the reason I sold mine. It went back to the factory,
appeared fixed, and then re-developed the blade play in a very short
time. I sold it to a friend of mine who is a gunsmith; he repaired it
only to have the problem reoccur again in a couple of weeks.

This is not a condemnation of Al Mar knives. I also have a Shrike
and it locks up tight every time. Guess I just got a lemon.....

Ya its definately not a common problem with Al Mar knives but rather a lemon. All Al Mars are lifefime warranted now days so go to their website and get their phone number so you can get your RA number. Then just send it in. I hear that they have a pretty good turn around time and will definately either fix that one for you or just give you a brand new knife.

My Mini SERE 2K had the same issue from brand new.

I returned it to Al Mar and they replaced the blade. The knife I got back was rock-solid.
