Just wondering if anyone had either of these and what their thoughts were...the logical side says go with the plastic as it will be more durable, but the irrational side says the black MOP is more elegant...any opinions appreciated, thanks

Hi

I've an AlMar Hawk with Black MOP scales; and I must say when I received it I was very very impressed... it looks more like a fine jewerly work rater than a knife... but its only the look, because it comes sharper than a scalpel..

It's my main dress knife that I use when attending some elegant dinner or wedding... you can't go wrong with balck MOP... it's just so elegant...

Hope it helps...

Regards.

How does the MOP hold up, while I would like something that is "classy" it wouldn't be relegated to formal only occasions, rather it would be a daily use thing. Thanks

As beautiful as MOP is it is not the best thing for a EDC knife. The MOP is soft and scratches easily so unless you have a pocket dedicated to knife carry you are better off with plastic.
