Al Mar Quest 3

Greetings!

I'm a newbie here and looking for information regarding the type of steel my beloved Al Mar Quest 3 is made from. I bought it at a gunshow about 8 years ago for around $175. The vendor told me it was 8A or AUS8A. I just want to know for sure.

At any rate, the blade takes and holds a fierce edge and is fairly well balanced for a production knife. I recently pulled a Cold Steel test and severed in one swing a piece of free-hanging PMI 11mm "Kermantle Cable" static rescue rope.

I love those old Al Mar knives. I'm pretty sure the steel they used was good stuff. I had a couple of the Al Mar daggers and had an old applegate-fairbairn with an OD handle on it.

Terrific stuff.
