Hi Folks.

First post here on Blade Forums, I have however been a long time member of British Blades, member name AndyP.

I have joined to help gain knowledge of American made knives, over on BB the majority of knives are UK based and there is not a lot of knowledge of the US makers.

I have built up a good collection of US makers knives, but am finding it difficult to aquire and info on this collaboration from 1999 between Al Mar and Reeves..

They are a pair both numbered 005. I do have the paperwork showing the collaboration but nothing else.

If anyone can shed any light on these it would be great.. And if this is the wrong part of the forums to ask for info then please let me know..

Thanks again..

They look great, basically a Sable with a swedge.

I have no info. on them but I like them

Welcome the the forums by the way :)

Many thanks for the welcome..

Two others here that I cannot find much info on..

One is a South African Shadow.. Hexagonal butt cap.

Numbered 40.. Any ideas as to when this was manufactured and to how many pieces.?

The second is a NICA tanto.. I obviously know it was limited to 150 pieces, but cannot find any info on the NICA side.. Any clues what this stand for and was NICA a private assosiation or similar..

Some pics.

Nice knives Andy, very cool! Your best bet is to email the CRK factory. Most likely you will be talking with Heather, but she should be able to find out the history of these knives from Chris or Anne. Good luck and let us know.

BTW, if you ever feel like selling them...please keep me in mind. FOR REAL...

AndyP,

Welcome to BF! I believe I may have "met" you on BritishBlades. Those are way cool knives you have there. I would encourage you to repost them in our "Just images -- CRK Fixed Blade" sticky!

Best regards,

Dave

You have some real nice one piece knives

How many more gems have you got hidden away there :p

Thats it for the Reeves..

Got a coulple of Crains, almost one piece.. I'll get some pics to the appropriate section of the forums.

I have a N.I.C.A. large tanto Sebenza. I believe the acronym stands for National Independent Cutlery Association, a professional organization of knife store owners.

I had a 5.5" Al Mar/CRK. CRK modified the Sable with an upper guard, serrations, and a penetrator tip -- a short swedge. I'm really not sure how the collaboration came about, but CRK made them for Al Mar Knives to sell.

Edit: I found an excellent post quoting Anne Reeve on the Al Mar:

I have one of those little NICA tantos, as well.
Before you posted your pics, mine was the only one I had ever seen.
If I remember correctly, the regular 4" tanto had a single guard, not a double like on our NICA's.

The South African Shadow looks suspiciously like the Project One without the serrations and with the older style hex cap. How long is the blade?

That's some nice & unusual stuff you got there Planty!
Thanks for posting.

Kind regards,

Jos

Thanks for the help guys..

Has anyone a rough idea as to the value of the Al Mar pair.. Will they command a higher value sold together than if seperated.. There is no records that I can find showing a low numbered pair sold together..
