I'm thinking of getting another one of these.
(stupidly sold one a few years ago).
Does anybody EDC one of these?
How does it do at every day cutting tasks?
What's the most severe thing you've used it for?
Do you find the thickness of the handle too much in your pocket or hand?
Any other comments?
Thaks all,
Lenny

I have one in my EDC rotation. I like bigger knives and therefore find the 2000 to carry very well. It's heavy and thick, but the payoff is a very comfortable handle. As I'm sure you know, Al Mar's quality is a step above most other production companies. My 2000 is easily my fastest/smoothest knife including about 10 Axis Benchmades. I have broken down boxes and sniped zip ties with it often and the lockup is still rock solid.

I really like mine also. It has maybe the smoothest action of any knife I own. It flicks open super fast. I have cut thick plastic, zip ties and cardboard with no problems. It carries well in the pocket and is comfortable to hold and use. Worth it IMHO.

Here's my quick take as an EDC: it has an excellent very deep carry pocket clip, which makes it disappear in the pocket but still quick to deploy. It is a super smooth knife and can handle tough jobs with ease. However, it is pretty damn heavy. The handle is comfortable enough in the hand but because of the knife's weight I don't carry it too often.

I used to EDC it as well.

Advantages were:
+ Extremely firm and solid
+ Great grip
+ Excellent fit & finish for a production folder

Downsides were too:
- The knife is a bit on the heavy side
- Weak detent - it can accidentally fold open in your pocket

I EDC a Spyderco Centofante 3 now and I have no intention to EDC my Sere2000.

I EDC one quite a bit (now that I got it back from my son who EDC'd it). My experience pretty much mirrors those of the others. I will probably EDC it a little less with my suits when I get a smaller EDC knife, but it will stay in the rotation. I especially love the deep carry clip.

I had one for a while and didn't like it.

The thumb studs are too sharp and the thumb ramp would have been better if it had jimping on it.

The weight didn't bother me though. I am really not a fan of spear point blade shapes either.

I had one and sold it because because it was too big for me to legally carry here. I now have a Mini SERE and love it. It's got a very slight amount of blade play but the action is smooth, the grip is perfect, the clip is strong and allows for deep carry, and the VG-10 takes a great edge. Been contemplating getting another full size at some point.
