The last time I had an Al Mar SERE 2000 was about 5 years ago. At that time the knife came with a 1/8" (.125") thick blade. Now I see them advertised with a blade thickness of .150". Anyone know when this change occured? Was anything else changed about the knife? Also, when I go to www.almarknives.com it only shows that page, is there another site for Al Mar Knives? Thanks for any help.:D

That's odd. My SERE 2000 is at least that old, and it measures .150".

Mine may have been older than the 5 years I said as I bought it lnib from someone that already had it. I do know that the earlier SERE 2000 ads stated blade thickness at 1/8", but that they now say .150" on blade thickness. I realize were are not talking a great amount here, but I always thought the blade should have been thicker than it was on that knife and so if they have increased it I would definately like to try another one. I also know the one i had required a "tweak" so that the lock didn't slip off the blade back, but once i fixed that it was as solid as I could ask for. Really liked the overbuilt construction of this knife.

OK. looks like I'll have to answer this question myself!:D And that means buying a new knife.............love answering questions myself, especially when they involve having to buy a new knife to get the answer! So, I've just placed my order for a SERE 2000 w/black blade.

I can remember the other one I had and always thought I would like to get another one, after selling it a few years ago, and wanted one of the black bladed ones sometime down the road, and it looks like sometime down the road has happened.

I do remember this being a very well built knife with 4 or 5 back posts that really gave the knife super rigidty. Also remember the fit/finish being VERY nice. As I said in the earlier post, I did have to tweak the liner a little by dissassemblying the knife, lots of little screws as I remember, and giving the liner a hair more bend so that the spring became stiffer and much less likely to move over by itself. After that I never had any more trouble with the lock slipping.

I also know that the blade thickness is really a little thing but I have to tell you that I do like a little thicker blade than .125" on my larger folders, so I hope that the blade thickness has indeed been changed/increased to the .150" stated.

Another question I have concerns the manufacturer of the SERE 2000. Is it produced by Moki, or another company, and if so, does anyone know who the company is?

Oh yeah, couldn't pass up the "flashlight with a knife order" so I also have one of the new Olight T-10 Q5's coming also. Later this month will also see the Olight T-20 Q5, and a Fenix T-1 coming to my part of the world!
